Inner Pond, 2003, 6:30 loop
Inner Pond is a bent horizontal split screen where the seam is the essence, the surface without extent − the line, the meeting − to which everything relates .The joint bares witness to the rectangular origin of the image. Two journeys filmed at night, an abstract landscape of fugitive colour memories in a tranquil self-referring meditation over surface, light and colour. The colour and being of drowning. The sound is a compilation of several manipulated sounds, among others the scratching from an old LP-record and ”If Ye Love Me” by T. Tallis, reversed and stretched. A voice sings: Save me.
