Self portrait at surface & soundscape / geomorphic visualizations at depth, Parkfield M 6.0 Earthquake 24 September 2004. At-depth sound recordings of the first four minutes twenty-two seconds of a recent California earthquake intercalate with a video portrait from the seismic field. A face appears and then melts into arrays of visualizations, which derive from Parkfield seismicity in VRML format. ‘Silky', if visualizations become like a second skin, inside a phenomenology of datasets. Shoot the video onsite and then edit it inside a context of interlacing geomorphic animations. The velocities register as pulsations like rolling thunder. Finding self, losing place: losing self, finding place -- an oscillation crosses the screen center, x over face.
